As you prepare to navigate the aisles of Printing United and meet with different suppliers, it’s important to consider what type of equipment is going to make your business run more efficiently and which ones will help open doors to new opportunities. To help you make the most out of your time, I’ve put together three popular applications you may be thinking about and the best product to fulfill those needs.
- Business Cards – Business cards are one of most common print applications there are and for many printers not very profitable. Cutting them on a guillotine is just too labor intensive and too costly to produce. If you are looking to get that process automated, I recommend taking a look at a Slitter/Cutter/Creaser. Our entry-level DC-618 is our best seller and for good reason. It makes it more efficient to finish these types of short-run jobs and other applications coming off your digital press. It has capability to perform multiple processes in a single pass, which the guillotine cannot do, and adjust for any image shifting sheet-by-sheet, which the guillotine cannot account for. And it can cut 250 business cards in under 2 minutes with incredible precision and deliver better quality than the guillotine can.
- Perfect Bound-Looking Books – If your bookletmaker is not keeping up with your production demands or the quality is leaving a lot to be desired, it may be time for an upgrade. I recommend booking a demonstration to see the DBM-700 Bookletmaker in action. Available in both a sheet feeder and collator configuration, it produces thicker booklets up to 50-sheets and offers a square spine option that gives your books that perfect bound look – without the added labor and cost. Books just look better with the square spine and it makes them easier to pack, also saving boxes. It removes the sponginess of the book while eliminating the rounded spine.
- Pocket Folders – Pocket folders are large print applications that require a large piece of equipment to process them and many print providers are outsourcing this because of lack of capability. But when working with an outside vendor, there may be limitations in design due to equipment restrictions. Bringing this type of job in-house allows you to take control of the turnaround and keep more of the profits. Whether your run lengths are long or short, I highly recommend checking out the DSM-1000 B2 Platen Die Cutter – one of our newest solutions just released this year. It offers exceptional creasing and foldability without lamination, flexibility in design, user-friendliness, and uses cost-effective steel rule dies. A solution that allows you to bring high-quality pocket folders and packaging applications in-house.
These are just some of my recommendations and I have more I can share with you. All these solutions will be on exhibit at the Duplo booth. I encourage you to book a product demo with myself or any of our finishing specialists to get more recommendations to suit your application needs. Who knows, you may discover a new opportunity to transform your print business for the future.
